Navigating the Future: India’s Indigenous Satellite Navigation Chipsets

India’s Push for Self-Reliance in Satellite Navigation Gets a Boost

India’s quest for self-sufficiency in satellite navigation takes a significant step forward. Hyderabad-based Manjeera Digital Systems is partnering with the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to design and produce indigenous chipsets capable of processing signals from the Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) system, developed by ISRO.

Until now, smartphones and navigation devices using NavIC signals relied on chipsets from foreign manufacturers like Qualcomm and Mediatek. This collaboration marks a pivotal moment in India’s efforts to develop its own navigation technology. NavIC, with its applications ranging from vehicle tracking to weather alerts, is poised to play a crucial role in India’s technological self-reliance journey.
