US, India Eye Synergy in AI and Trade

U.S. Vice President JD Vance highlighted the strong potential for collaboration between American AI and hardware innovation and India’s dynamic startup ecosystem during his recent visit to India. Speaking in Jaipur, Vance emphasized the mutual benefits of closer technological and economic ties, noting that both countries are poised to jointly develop key infrastructure like data centers, undersea cables, and pharmaceuticals.

He underscored the significance of the U.S.-India TRUST Initiative, launched by President Trump and Prime Minister Modi, as a cornerstone for advancing AI collaboration. The initiative aims to expand AI infrastructure, reduce regulatory hurdles, and foster innovation in societal applications.

On trade, Vance announced that the U.S. and India have finalized a framework for negotiations, targeting a major bilateral agreement by fall. The deal is expected to address tariffs, e-commerce access, data localization, and critical minerals, with the ambitious goal of boosting trade from $127.6 billion to $500 billion by 2030.

Vance affirmed that the U.S. sees India not just as a market but as a true partner, adding that the Trump administration seeks to deepen ties with India based on mutual respect and shared prosperity.

“America and India are building a future together,” Vance said, reaffirming the growing importance of the Indo-U.S. partnership in global trade and innovation.
