The Government of India has introduced the prestigious “Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar” in the realm of Science, Technology, and Innovation. This national accolade aims to celebrate remarkable scientific, technological, and innovative achievements by researchers, technologists, and innovators.
Nominations and applications are invited for the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar (RVP), both for individuals and teams, across various domains of science, technology, and technology-driven innovation.
The awards will be presented in four distinct categories:
- Vigyan Ratna (VR): Recognizing a lifetime of accomplishments and contributions in the field of Science and Technology (up to three awards).
- Vigyan Shri (VS): Acknowledging distinguished contributions in Science and Technology (up to 25 awards).
- Vigyan Yuva Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (VY-SSB) Award: Encouraging young scientists who have made exceptional contributions (up to 25 awards).
- Vigyan Team (VT) Award: Honoring teams of three or more scientists, researchers, or innovators who have excelled in collaborative efforts (up to three awards).
The Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar covers 13 domains, including Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Mathematics & Computer Science, Earth Science, Medicine, Engineering Sciences, Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Technology & Innovation, Atomic Energy, Space Science and Technology, and Others.
Nominations are welcome on the Award Portal of the Ministry of Home Affairs from January 14, 2024, to February 28, 2024. Detailed guidelines and RVP information can be found on the awards portal. This year, the awards are being administered by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
