Historic Tech Transfer: IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, and SAMEER License 5G Tech to Tejas Networks for Rs 12 Cr

In a landmark move, Tejas Networks, a Tata Group Company, has acquired the license for a 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) technology from IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, and SAMEER for Rs. 12 Crore. The collaboration marks one of India’s largest technology transfers from academia to industry. The three institutions jointly developed the 5G RAN sub-system at the 5G Test Bed, contributing to India’s self-reliance in satellite navigation. The Licensing Agreement, celebrated at IIT Madras, is a significant step towards integrating indigenous innovations into commercial applications. Tejas Networks, as the licensee, is set to play a crucial role in advancing and applying this cutting-edge technology.
