In a significant move, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK), and the Indian Navy have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Naval Headquarters. The agreement aims to bolster technology development, foster innovative solutions, and engage in collaborative Research and Development (R&D).
Rear Admiral K Srinivas, Asst. Chief of Materiel (Dockyard & Refits), and Prof. S. Ganesh, Director of IIT Kanpur, sealed this partnership. The MoU establishes a comprehensive framework facilitating capacity building, addressing field-level challenges, and enhancing training effectiveness through faculty and guest lecture exchanges. The strategic collaboration will particularly concentrate on joint R&D initiatives, involving teams from the Centre of Excellence (Marine Engg.) at INS Shivaji, Lonavla, and IIT Kanpur.
Prof. S. Ganesh remarked, “This collaboration underscores IIT Kanpur’s commitment to advancing knowledge, cultivating strategic alliances, and contributing to the nation’s defense capabilities by leveraging academic and technological expertise. As a premier institution renowned for cutting-edge research, IIT Kanpur is well-positioned to apply its proficiency in tackling real-world challenges encountered by the Indian Navy.”
