India and Denmark Forge Partnership on Water Resource Innovation

India is set to deepen its cooperation with Denmark in the water sector, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and promote advanced water management solutions, Jal Shakti Minister C R Paatil announced. This collaboration was reinforced during a recent discussion with Denmark’s Minister for Industry, Business, and Financial Affairs, Morten Bodskov.

The ministers agreed on several initiatives, including the potential establishment of a Centre of Excellence. This center would focus on fostering innovation in smart water resource management, aiming to lead breakthroughs in water technology and efficient management practices.

Additionally, they considered the idea of setting up a Clean Rivers Laboratory in Varanasi, taking inspiration from the Smart City Lab in Panaji, Goa. Paatil outlined that this laboratory would function as a pivotal research and innovation center dedicated to the rejuvenation and preservation of India’s rivers, which are vital to the nation’s environmental sustainability strategy.
