India-US Defense Acceleration Summit Scheduled This Month at Stanford University

The third India-US Defense Acceleration Ecosystem (INDUS-X) Summit is scheduled to take place this month at Stanford University, California. This pivotal event, co-hosted by the US India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF), Stanford University’s Gordian Knot Centre for National Security Innovation, and the Hoover Institution, will occur on September 9 and 10.

The summit will feature prominent figures, including former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and aims to foster discussions on bolstering the defense innovation ecosystems across both nations. Participants will include a high-level delegation of policymakers from Washington and New Delhi, along with leaders from defense innovation sectors such as startups, venture capital, academia, and industry. The focus will be on strengthening partnerships in advanced technology and increasing investment opportunities.

Themed “Harnessing Investment Opportunities to Enhance Cross-Border Defense Innovation Ecosystems,” the summit will highlight the importance of private investments in defense innovation. INDUS-X, initiated in June 2023, seeks to deepen strategic technology partnerships and defense industrial cooperation between India and the U.S., involving government entities, businesses, and educational institutions.

The summit follows the successful launch of INDUS-X during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to the U.S. last year, marked by a joint exhibition of innovative technologies by Indian and U.S. startups in Washington DC. This year’s event will also include the INDUS-X Tech Expo, showcasing advanced technologies from defense and aerospace startups, drawing interest from venture capitalists, academics, and tech professionals in the Bay Area.
