The Indian Army hosted its annual Idea and Innovation Competition, Inno-Yoddha 2024-25, at New Delhi’s Manekshaw Centre, with General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), presiding over the event. This platform highlights in-house innovations designed to address operational challenges, enhance logistics and training, and bolster overall effectiveness.
Driven by firsthand experience, soldiers develop solutions to field-specific challenges, leveraging their technical expertise and ingenuity. This year’s event showcased 75 innovations, selected through rigorous evaluations from unit to Command HQ levels. Of these, 22 exceptional innovations were displayed and commended by the COAS. These innovations will now advance through product refinement via Army Technology Board (ATB) Projects, Base Workshops, and Army Design Bureau initiatives.
General Dwivedi praised the participants’ dedication, emphasizing that “innovation is a mindset that drives progress.” He highlighted the hard work and critical thinking behind each idea, underscoring their significance in shaping a future-ready force.
Inno-Yoddha has made remarkable strides over the years, including the filing of 26 Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and the successful completion of 21 innovations. Several technologies have transitioned to private industry, including Exploder by FC Tech and Agniastra by Red Kite Digital Tech, both recently launched. Another innovation, Vidyut Rakshak, has been transferred to IS Trading Company.
Through this initiative, the Indian Army reaffirms its commitment to operational excellence and self-reliance, aligning with the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign while fostering a culture of creativity and innovation within its ranks.
