Mercedes-Benz India’s Research Arm and IISc Collaborate for EV Advancements

Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) has entered into a two-year partnership with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to drive collaborative research in electric vehicles (EVs). The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to bridge the gap between industry and academia, fostering innovation in response to evolving industry and customer demands. MBRDI’s Managing Director, Manu Saale, expressed excitement about working closely with IISc, bringing Indian engineering research to the global stage. The collaboration will concentrate on engineering transformation and long-term research projects, leveraging each other’s capabilities. IISc Director Govindan Rangarajan highlighted the potential economic opportunities and energy independence through research in sustainable mobility and EVs. The two-year agreement includes information exchange, joint funding opportunities, intellectual property generation, and research sponsorship.
