MRPL Recognized for Pioneering Refinery Innovation by Government of India

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) clinched the ‘Best Innovation in Refinery’ accolade for the second consecutive year, bestowed by India’s Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. MRPL, based in Coastal Karnataka, outshone industry heavyweights like IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL in a stiff competition for the fiscal year 2022-23. The honor was handed to MD MRPL Sanjay Varma by Hardeep Singh Puri, the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs, GoI, during the Energy Technology Meet 2023 in New Delhi. MRPL’s innovation is founded on a patent for an energy-efficient hydrocarbon distillation process, as evaluated by the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), led by Dr. Anil Kakodkar. This achievement demonstrates MRPL’s commitment to innovation in the petroleum sector.
