Qualcomm Expands Chennai Presence with ₹177 Cr Investment and 1,600 New Jobs

Qualcomm India is expanding its presence in Chennai with a new design center, aiming to invest approximately ₹177.27 crore and create up to 1,600 jobs for skilled professionals. This center will specialize in wireless connectivity solutions, particularly focusing on innovations related to Wi-Fi technologies and contributing to Qualcomm’s global Research and Development efforts in 5G cellular technology. This move reinforces Qualcomm’s commitment to lead in the wireless communications industry. Savi Soin, President of Qualcomm India, emphasized the center’s role in shaping global connectivity, especially in India, and its significance in supporting Qualcomm’s “Make in India” and “Design in India” initiatives. Mahesh Moorthy, Vice President of Engineering and Head of Qualcomm Chennai Design Center, highlighted Tamil Nadu’s skilled workforce and innovation-focused environment as essential for driving Qualcomm’s technological advancements.
