Google reaffirmed its commitment to India’s digital health sector at the recent Google for India event, emphasizing its role in enhancing the country’s health infrastructure, empowering consumers, and improving healthcare delivery through innovative technologies and AI.
Strengthening Health Infrastructure: Google’s team is collaborating with the National Health Authority to expedite the integration of open-source tools with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) architecture. This initiative has drastically reduced integration times from six months to under two weeks. An integral part of ABDM is the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), a universal health ID that enables users to store and share their health data securely across the network. Starting next year, ABHA ID cards will be accessible via Google Wallet, allowing over 600 million users to easily manage their health information through their smartphones, with strong privacy protections like fingerprint and PIN authentication.
Empowering Health Consumers: Google continues to leverage its platforms to meet the health needs of Indian consumers. This includes creating over 800 health Knowledge Panels on Google Search in English and Hindi and introducing health-related content on YouTube. Additionally, the expansion of health-related hotlines in multiple Indian languages aims to support individuals in critical health moments.
Partnering on Healthcare Delivery: Google’s AI technologies are being integrated into India’s healthcare systems to enhance service delivery. This includes a Clinical Intelligence Engine that provides real-time insights to doctors, and partnerships with Indian health platforms like Swaasa® and Apollo Radiology International to utilize AI in disease detection and management.
Google Health is dedicated to harnessing the power of AI to support health solutions that are inclusive, diverse, and scalable, ensuring better healthcare access and outcomes across India and globally.
