Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing industries worldwide and presents a chance for India to accelerate inclusive growth. With the capacity to inject $500 billion into the economy by 2025, AI can drive transformational shifts in agriculture, healthcare, and manufacturing.
Launched under the IndiaAI Mission, the AI for India 2030 initiative—hosted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser, Nasscom, and the World Economic Forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution India—aims to integrate AI across society while promoting ethical and equitable adoption.
By bridging skill gaps and modernizing public infrastructure, AI can spark productivity gains in underserved areas, helping to address sectoral inefficiencies. Government leaders, including S. Krishnan and Ajay Kumar Sood, underscore collaboration’s importance, citing AI’s potential to solve pressing challenges and drive socio-economic inclusion.
The initiative’s backbone rests on two workstreams: an AI Playbook, with sector-specific strategies for agriculture and MSMEs, and an AI Sandbox, offering controlled environments for testing innovations. These frameworks integrate international insights and focus on localized solutions, reinforcing India’s leadership in developing sovereign AI that accounts for cultural nuances.
Public-private partnerships and robust digital public infrastructure will nurture AI solutions at scale, powering India’s evolution as a global AI leader. As the forum’s community refines these tools, the country’s focus remains on responsible governance, skill development, and leveraging AI’s transformative capacity for sustainable growth and inclusion. Looking ahead, AI for India 2030 will continue fostering collaboration and scalable frameworks to ensure all stakeholders benefit from AI-driven progress.
