Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) has initiated the ‘Samsung Innovation Campus’ program at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) to prepare youth for future technology domains like Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things, aligning with the government’s Skill India initiative. Through this program, SSIR aims to train and empower 1,100 undergraduate engineering students across Karnataka.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr. BE. Rangaswamy, VTU’s Registrar, in the presence of Dr. S Vidyashankar, the honorable Vice Chancellor, and SSIR dignitaries. This pilot project strives to equip students with knowledge and skills in cutting-edge technologies, contributing to Karnataka’s technology ecosystem.
Facilitated by experts with access to Samsung Innovation Campus content, the initiative focuses on instructor-led training for BE and B.Tech students. The program seeks to develop quality, industry-relevant skills and empower participants to become well-rounded professionals.
Balajee Sowrirajan, Corporate EVP & MD of SSIR, emphasized the program’s goal to foster innovative thinking and empower young minds. Dr. S Vidyashankar, VTU’s Vice Chancellor, highlighted the university’s commitment to providing students with industry-relevant skills essential for future success.
In addition to technical competency, students will undergo mentorship to solve real-world problems and participate in hackathons. The program aims to nurture entrepreneurship among aspiring engineers by encouraging innovative solutions with potential for Deep Tech products.
