The Honeywell Hometown Solutions India Foundation (HHSIF), Honeywell’s charitable branch, in collaboration with the Foundation for Science, Innovation and Development (FSID) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), has provided substantial research and financial backing to 37 Indian startups over the past four years, with a total investment of Rs 9 crores. In the fiscal year 2023-24 alone, Honeywell contributed Rs 2.4 crores to support eight startups and five entrepreneurship-in-residence programs (EIRs), and plans to incorporate an additional 10 startups this year.
This partnership empowers startups specializing in deep science with seed funding and crucial research assistance, focusing on environmental, agricultural, and health innovations. The alliance between Honeywell and IISc has become a coveted asset for burgeoning enterprises, offering not only seed funding but also access to top-tier facilities, connections with industry leaders, government entities, and a global network of investors and small to medium-sized enterprises in India.
In the 2023-24 fiscal year, this collaboration supported ventures in health/med-tech, agri-tech, and clean-tech sectors, including companies like Papyrus Diagnostics, Akumen AI, Hoyasan Labs, Cellsion Technologies, Easescan MedTech, Kaiza Tech, Green Collar Agritech, and Mushloop.
Highlighted startups include AI Highway, which has developed a cost-effective system for cardiac disease screening using advanced signal processing and AI, and OpenWater.in, which implemented a wastewater treatment system in Mavallipura to address severe groundwater contamination.
Another standout is Dfine Bio Innovations, which has created the FibriTimer Zeta-1, a hemostasis system that assists clinicians in diagnosing bleeding and thrombosis issues. This ISO-certified and CDSCO-approved innovation is a pioneering product in India, offered at a price significantly lower than similar international products.
