Indian Innovators Lead Global Tech Development: Insights from Qualcomm

Qualcomm India’s President, Savi Soin, recently highlighted the significant role of Indian developers in pioneering innovative solutions that are poised to propel growth both domestically and globally. Speaking ahead of Qualcomm’s premier developer conference set for April 17 in Hyderabad, Soin emphasized India’s contributions to the tech industry, thanks to its robust STEM capabilities that meet global standards.

This event will gather over 150 developers, engineers, and industry experts to delve into the latest technological advancements. As a vanguard in 5G and wireless communication, Qualcomm remains dedicated to supporting India’s digital transformation, according to Soin.

Shashi Reddy, Qualcomm India’s VP of Engineering, noted that the Hyderabad center is crucial in leading the company’s research and development efforts in India. This initiative is part of Qualcomm’s broader strategy to align with the Indian government’s ‘Make in India for the world’ vision by developing AI and 5G applications suited for India.

Moreover, Qualcomm is set to foster innovation further by supporting the ‘Edge AI Lab’ at the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT-H) with a $186,000 grant. This investment underscores Qualcomm’s commitment to enhancing AI and Edge AI technologies through collaborations with the Indian developer community, as stated by Leendert van Doorn, Senior Vice President at Qualcomm. The upcoming conference is expected to deepen these cooperative efforts, driving more advanced research and innovative solutions.
