The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to conduct a complimentary online training from August 19 to 23, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). This initiative falls under the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) outreach program started in 2007, which has connected with over 3,500 network institutes to foster growth in geospatial technology.
Aimed at professionals, students, and researchers in fields such as civil engineering, computer science, and geoinformatics, the program encourages applications from those keen on AI, ML, and deep learning (DL) for geospatial tasks.
Course Overview: Participants will engage with an array of subjects including:
- Basics of AI/ML and DL
- Machine Learning Techniques: Supervised, Unsupervised, and Reinforcement Learning
- Advanced DL concepts involving CNN, RNN, R-CNN, and others
- Application of Machine Learning in Google Earth Engine
- Programming in Python for AI and ML
The training will be delivered through ISRO’s e-class platform, which will distribute materials like lecture slides, video recordings, and software demos.
Daily Sessions:
- August 19: Introduction to AI, ML, and DL by Dr. Poonam Seth Tiwari
- August 20: Machine Learning Methods by Dr. Hina Pande
- August 21: Deep Learning Techniques by Dr. Poonam Seth Tiwari
- August 22: ML Applications in Google Earth Engine by Dr. Kamal Pandey
- August 23: Python for AI and ML by Ravi Bhandari
All sessions are scheduled from 4 PM to 5:30 PM daily.
Registration and Certification: Registration is open on a first-come, first-serve basis with immediate approval for individual applications. Institutional participants must register through designated nodal centers. Attendees must maintain at least 70% attendance to earn a ‘Course Participation Certificate,’ downloadable through the ISRO Learning Management System.
This free course offers an unparalleled opportunity to refine expertise in AI and ML, contributing to advancements in India’s space industry. For more details and registration, visit the IIRS website.
