Unveiled at Meta Connect 2023, Meta AI is designed for human-like interaction and can generate images among other capabilities. It began its initial rollout in April, with Indian users gaining access by June. Recently, Meta expanded the chatbot’s accessibility by adding support for Hindi and Hindi-Romanised Script, and languages like French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish, aiming to embrace a broader audience. Meta continues to invest heavily in the development of large language models, which are fundamental to AI chatbots’ functionality.
