Microsoft recently held the groundbreaking ceremony for its upcoming India Development Centre (IDC) campus in Noida, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion in India. The proposed 15-acre campus, with a built-up area of 1.1 million square feet, will focus on advancing artificial intelligence (AI), Cloud computing, and security, further cementing Microsoft’s commitment to innovation in these domains.
The event was graced by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, alongside Microsoft IDC’s MD and President, Rajiv Kumar. Speaking at the ceremony, Kumar emphasized the campus’s role in attracting global talent to drive breakthroughs in AI and Cloud technologies, with a mission to impact billions worldwide. He acknowledged the support from the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Noida Authority, highlighting the project’s alignment with India’s vision of becoming an AI-first nation.
With strong IDC hubs in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Noida, Microsoft continues to deepen its presence in India. The Noida campus is set to enhance digital transformation, foster AI skill development, and strengthen Microsoft’s collaboration with the state of Uttar Pradesh.
This initiative follows Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella’s January announcement of a $3 billion investment in India. This investment includes new data centers, advanced AI infrastructure, and skilling programs aimed at training 10 million people over the next five years under the ADVANTA(I)GE India program, reinforcing Microsoft’s dedication to advancing India’s AI capabilities and competitiveness on the global stage.
