Tata Elxsi, a leading IT services company, and Dräger, renowned for its expertise in medical and safety technology, have joined forces to bolster innovations in critical care within India. This partnership involves Dräger establishing a new Offshore Development Center (ODC) at Tata Elxsi’s Pune facility, aiming to spearhead the development of state-of-the-art critical care medical devices for both the Indian and global markets.
Merging Tata Elxsi’s prowess in design and technology with Dräger’s industry-leading expertise, the collaboration seeks to innovate in the realm of critical care, focusing on devices for operation theatres worldwide. The newly formed development center will serve as a crucible for product innovation — encompassing ideation, design, prototyping, and testing, and features a fully-equipped testing facility mimicking operation theatre conditions for rigorous product assessments.
This initiative underscores the synergy between Tata Elxsi and Dräger, highlighting their commitment to setting new benchmarks in safety and effectiveness for critical care environments. This venture not only emphasizes Dräger’s investment in India’s R&D landscape — marking its second such center in the country — but also showcases the nation’s burgeoning capabilities in healthcare innovation and manufacturing.
Shalin Patel, Dräger India Group’s Managing Director, expressed the partnership’s pivotal role in expanding Dräger’s R&D endeavours in India, aiming to revolutionize critical care equipment globally. Echoing this sentiment, Pankaj Madhukar Wani, Head of Healthcare & Lifesciences Business at Tata Elxsi, lauded the joint venture as a stride towards harnessing India’s potential as a global R&D stronghold, eagerly anticipating the innovative healthcare solutions to stem from this collaboration.
