The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi has made a commendable achievement by ranking 8th in the Innovation category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024. The announcement was made by the Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, during a ceremony in New Delhi today.
IIT Mandi has shown notable progress across multiple categories, advancing to 31st in Engineering and ranking 72nd in the Overall category, as per the latest NIRF 2024 rankings.
During the event, Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the Ministry of Education’s dedication to enhancing the ranking framework. He noted, “Our efforts to refine and make the ranking process more progressive and transparent are ongoing. We encourage both public and private institutions to engage with NIRF, which promotes not just benchmarking, but also fosters continual enhancement and excellence in higher education.”
Dr. Kumar Sambhav Pandey, the Registrar of IIT Mandi, responded to the rankings with enthusiasm, stating, “Securing the 8th spot in the Innovation category is a testament to our commitment to cultivating an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit at IIT Mandi. We are dedicated to pushing the envelope in technological advancement and innovation, contributing significantly to the national innovation landscape.”
The NIRF, overseen by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, is an annual evaluation that measures the performance of higher education institutions across several dimensions, including teaching, research, learning, and innovation.
