The Power Ministry has announced a significant collaboration between the National Power Training Institute (NPTI) and the Power Trading Corporation of India Limited (PTC) with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create a Research and Development (R&D) Centre of Excellence (CoE).
A press release from the Ministry of Power highlighted that this venture is designed to tackle the urgent issues facing the energy sector, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The formal signing event occurred at the Ministry’s headquarters in New Delhi on March 28, featuring signatures from NPTI’s Director General, Dr. Tripta Thakur, and PTC India Ltd.’s Senior Vice President (HR), Koel Singhal, with Ministry Secretary Pankaj Agarwal among the attending officials.
This initiative promises to establish the CoE as a pivotal center for energy sector R&D and information sharing, focusing on forwarding the SDGs and ensuring societal and environmental benefits.
The CoE’s mission includes spearheading innovative research to confront the evolving challenges within the energy sector. Research topics will span renewable energy, efficiency improvements, grid updates, and extending power access to underserved communities.
This partnership between NPTI and PTC India Ltd. aims to lead the charge toward a more sustainable and eco-friendly energy future for India, combining their expertise to bring forth groundbreaking solutions.
Moreover, the results from the CoE’s R&D activities will be shared with the energy industry through detailed training and capacity-building endeavors, ensuring the widespread adoption of new insights and practices.
