SECI has unveiled India’s most extensive solar-battery project, marking a groundbreaking stride in renewable energy innovation in Chhattisgarh. The Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), boasting 40 MW / 120 MWh capacity alongside a 152.325 MW solar PV plant, represents a pivotal advancement in green energy utilization. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the project, emphasizing its significance in meeting Chhattisgarh’s peak energy demand with sustainable solutions.
Harnessing solar panels and battery storage, the initiative optimizes energy usage, storing surplus solar power for peak demand periods. Notably, the project employs bifacial modules, maximizing energy generation and setting new benchmarks in renewable energy initiatives.
Beyond its environmental benefits, the project strategically repurposes 451 acres of previously unused land, highlighting its sustainable development approach. The efficient power evacuation system ensures grid stability, further enhancing its reliability and impact on carbon emissions reduction.
Backed by funding from the World Bank and domestic financial institutions, the project exemplifies collaborative efforts to drive sustainable energy solutions. It is poised to revolutionize India’s renewable energy landscape while showcasing responsible land resource utilization on a global scale.
